Love & Care Learning Center
Mae Sot - Thailand

Rebels in Peace donates 10% of its yearly profit.

Due to the political and economic crisis in Burma (Myanmar), many civilians have fled from their homes to the Thai-Burma Border area. Some of them have been recognized as refugees while the rest of them remain as illegal migrant workers.

In order to survive in the border area they have encountered many difficulties, regarding legal issues, discrimination, and human rights abuses. Many of them are being exploited and treated badly by their employers. Moreover, human trafficking and child labour have dramatically increased in border areas. Children have become the main victims. Some of the children are being forced to enter the Burmese military, or they must escape from their community. The children have no access to education and they wander about exposed to many hardships, and with no future.

Therefore, Love and Care School was founded to provide free education for orphans and under-privileged children in June 2004.

Today, 250 Burmese youngsters from 8 to 24 years old have found their safe haven at Love & Care Learning Center. They live, learn, sleep, grow at the project site, often staying for 2 to 5 years.
